Have it all the The Quays with even more Stores Opening
Three international brands have recently opened their doors at the Centre. Global footwear brand, Skechers, Scandinavian home ware and interiors retailer Søstrene Grene and ethical beauty retailer The Body Shop have arrived as part of an expansive line up of exciting new tenants.
Skechers’ store will be its third in Northern Ireland, having already opened in Belfast and Craigavon. Søstrene Grene have opened its second shop in Northern Ireland following the success of its first store in Belfast City Centre and The Body Shop are excited to have opened their doors here introducing many vegan products, as well as a great selection of gifts – so we really do have something for everyone.
The expansion comes on the back of substantial new investment by the landlord in a uniquely early response to the changing market conditions.
The store openings have created new job opportunities which has been really positive for Newry.
Sunil Shah, executive director of Skechers said: “With great style, variety and pricing, Skechers truly is an ideal brand for Northern Ireland. We are delighted to create fourteen new jobs in Newry, bringing our total number of staff to 250 across Ireland North to South.”
Richard Power, franchisee, Søstrene Grene commented: “The opening of Søstrene Grene in Newry is an important part of the organisation’s expansion across Europe. This is our second store in Northern Ireland, following our debut store opening in Belfast City Centre last September. The Northern Irish retail market has remained strong and is continuing to grow. We feel that there is a gap in the market for this unique brand that has already seen great success on a global scale.”
Julie Magee, The Body Shop Store Manager said: “We are so excited to be opening a new store in (The Quays, Newry). We are a vegetarian, cruelty-free brand with many vegan products too and offer top-to-toe beauty solutions, as well as a great selection of gifts - we really do cater for everyone. So whether Vitamin E Day Cream is still your ultimate skincare saviour or you’ve recently discovered the pampering delights of our Spa of the World body care, we hope that customers, loyal and new will enjoy the shopping experience in our new store, and we look forward to their visit”.
The Centre is investing further with a £20m expansion plan adding 9,300 sq m fifth phase to the Centre, taking the total space to nearly 50,000 sq m. This allows us to create large format stores for Next and Marks and Spencer, ensuring the best possible retail experience for our customers.
This latest investment will create in the region of 300 jobs when the retail units are operational, and will provide our loyal customers with the highest quality of choice. This reinforces Newry’s position as a premier retail destination in Northern Ireland.
